You'll work with teams across significant nuclear projects, keeping the world powered more sustainably. Working closely with colleagues, clients, stakeholders and contractors, you'll also enjoy opportunities to mentor colleagues while progressing your career upward.Your purpose:The role will entail leading projects to deliver piping solutions for the construction of new nuclear stations and systems at fusion research facilities, support the operation of the existing nuclear generating fleet and decommission nuclear sites.Day-to-day activities may include the following:
- Technical leadership of piping teams.
- Delivery of technical solutions to complex problems.
- Production of clear and concise technical reports, calculations and drawings.
- Review and verification of technical documentation produced by others.
- Regular communication with clients and stakeholders, building and nurturing strong relationships with them.
- Production of bids and proposals.
- Develop capability through mentoring and coaching, development of tools/templates, input into technical community.
- Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Senior technical practitioner able to demonstrate good engineering judgement and with good experience in using fundamental engineering skills while leading and developing others.
- Substantial experience in piping and/or pressure vessel design and stress analysis.
- Experience with working in a safety critical and heavily regulated environment such as nuclear power generation/decommissioning industries.
- Chartered with a relevant professional institute (or approaching application for registration).
- Experience in working with design codes such as ASME BPVC Section III, RCC-M, BS EN 13480, BS EN 13445.
- Awareness of UK legislation relating to piping.
- Experience delivering projects for UK nuclear licensees.
- An understanding of commercial and client management principles.
