Job Title: Apprentice Miller & Test BakerLocation: R&I Centre, BoltonHours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours/week, flexible, on-site
Start Date: ASAP - milling season is underway!The RecipeWe're on the lookout for a passionate and curious individual to join our Quality team as an Apprentice Miller & Test Baker. Based at our state-of-the-art R&I Centre in Bolton, you'll be part of a team that's shaping the future of unbeatable quality at Warburtons.This is a permanent role with a clear path to progression. You'll work towards a Level 2 Baker Apprenticeship provided by Wigan and Leigh college: . You'll gain hands-on experience in our industrial test bakery and learning the science behind the perfect loaf.What You'll Learn
  • How to produce a range of products-from 800g white loaves to crumpets.
  • The importance of ingredients, especially wheat and flour performance.
  • The Chorleywood bread process and its importance for plant bakeries.
  • Teamwork, adaptability, and customer-focused thinking.

  • Managing the test milling process: cleaning, conditioning, milling wheat, and conducting analytical testing.
  • Supporting the test baking process and weekly work schedules.
  • Collaborating with the laboratory team to complete flour and finished product testing.
  • Organising samples, inputting results, and liaising with the test baking team.
  • Owning and managing all aspects of the apprenticeship programme, including off the job learning and end point assessment
Essential Ingredients
  • Communication, organisation, attention to detail, and a drive to learn.
  • Team player with good time management and accountability.
  • Basic Excel/Word skills and strong written/verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of bakery and analytical processes.
  • Maths and English Level 2 ideal - perfect for graduates or college leavers.
  • Driving licence preferred.
