
Management Accountant

- Assist in the preparation of the monthly management accounts for the business down to division and branch level within tight deadlines
- Allocation of costs across multiple divisions and branches to ensure accurate cost centre income/charges
- Maintain rigorous and robust balance sheet control reconciliations
- Preparation and processing of monthly journals (inc prepayments, accruals, stock and margin)
- Supporting the wider Finance team and the operations of the business – collaborating to ensure that financial information is accurate and complete
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounts records and spreadsheets
- Assist with financial queries from both within and outside the finance team
- Complete variance analysis on financial performance of costs against budget, prior year etc and provide regular updates to management
- Identify and recommend areas for continuous development
- Ownership of overhead costs including monthly meetings with budget holders to review the charges for completeness and accuracy
- Other duties as required
- Strong Excel skills and ability to work with large volumes of data
- Experience working in a large multi-site organisation
- Qualified accountant (Part qualified would be considered)
- Self-starter who can work under own initiative
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
- Good planning and organisation skills: able to work to tight deadlines
