
Accounts Assistant

- Process purchase invoices and maintain the purchase ledger
- Assist with payroll processing and related admin tasks
- Perform bank reconciliations and assist with month-end reporting
- Carry out credit control and liaise with customers regarding overdue payments
- Enter and maintain financial records in the accounting system
- Monitor supplier accounts and prepare payment runs
- Handle incoming calls, emails, and correspondence professionally
- Provide general administrative support for the accounts function
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely processing of orders and queries
- Support ad-hoc tasks as directed by the Directors or Office Manager
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised office environment
- Attend internal meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Identify and request training or support to aid personal development
- Ensure personal appearance and conduct align with company standards
- Maintain a flexible attitude to support team workloads and company priorities
- Process credit account applications for both customers and suppliers
- Process expense claims and handle petty cash
- Previous experience in a similar accounts or admin role
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Working knowledge of accounting systems (especially Sage)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Trustworthy, reliable, and discreet
- Team player with a proactive and flexible approach
- Formal qualifications in finance or administration
- Experience with payroll processing and HMRC reporting
- Exposure to small business operations and varied admin tasks
