Centrally located in the Thames Gateway, Gravesham Borough Council provides a range of services to over 106,000 people and 4,000 businesses.The Borough of Gravesham, situated in the north west corner of Kent, covers 25,000 acres of the most varied countryside in south east England.Bordered by the River Thames to the north, it is at the heart of Thames Gateway and has a significant role to play in the regeneration of a major government growth area.Gravesham Borough Council is committed to delivering to the community and working with us means you are part of delivering the level of growth and improvement our community needs and deserves.The roleThe Theatre Technician will report directly to the Technical Manager, they will be responsible for all aspects of the day to day running of the technical department at The Woodville and to support the Technical Manager in facilitating the staging and technical requirements of each production or event and the efficient management of the department as a whole.Main responsibilitiesUndertake a range of specialist tasks including:To ensure the safe and efficient fitting-up and getting-out of all productions held at the Woodville in agreement with the Technical Manager and/or the touring Production Manager.To brief incoming companies on Health and Safety as related to The Woodville.To supervise casual staff (in the absence of Technical Manager)To ensure the safe and efficient flying of scenic pieces, cloths etc as required.To work shows as Flyman / Show Crew / LX / Sound as required.Essential qualifications/experience-Proven experience of sound and lighting design, including live sound mixing, AV and Digital Cinema operation.Professional approach to colleagues, team members and members of the public.Excellent team player, with enthusiasm for change and development.Flexible working hours as required by the business including unsociable hours, evenings, weekends and some bank holidays.Desirable qualifications/experience-Practical experience through West End/ regional theatres, apprenticeships, or working on school/ community theatre projects can be advantageous.Knowledge of relevant software for lighting and sound control, such as lighting control software (e.g., ETC EOS), sound editing software (e.g., Pro Tools), and CAD software for set design (e.g., AutoCAD).Certification in safety protocols, including proper rigging techniques, first aid, and fire safety.In return we offer you:Holiday entitlementA generous holiday entitlement, plus paid bank holidays.TrainingIn-house and external training including non-qualification, Continued Personal Development (CPD), NVQ and other qualification training.Employee Assistance ProgrammeThe Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is a free and confidential support service, offering you unlimited access to advice and information as well as coaching and counselling where appropriate.Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the service is there to help you manage all of life's events and support you through the challenges.
