Company DescriptionUnited Infrastructure is a dynamic and rapidly expanding business, focused on delivering critical infrastructure projects, across the utility and social infrastructure sectors.Our team of highly skilled and hardworking specialists deliver innovative solutions to the complex challenges our clients face.Our company is split into two business areas:Utility Infrastructure –Our team of Utility Infrastructure specialists design, build and maintain critical water, energy (gas), power and telecoms infrastructure, for the UK’s largest network owners and operators.Social Infrastructure -Our team of Social Infrastructure specialists revitalise homes and communities by carrying out a wide range of work, from retrofit to refurbishment, and maintenance.Working in partnership with our clients, which are the UK’s largest network owners and operators, we work on highly complex projects to deliver resilient infrastructure, meeting the needs of local communities as well as national interests.One of our key strengths lies in our ability to deliver projects nationally, but also ensuring that within each programme of work, we engage with local communities.We do this through employing people who are representative of the local communities we work in, training and developing them to take pride in the work they do, and to be responsible for delivering leading levels of performance across our projects.Develop, implement and manage the Project Quality Plan (PQP) across all phases, ensuring compliance with client, statutory and ISO standards.Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) from contractors and subcontractors for pipeline and associated infrastructure works (e.g., AGIs, BVSs, trenchless crossings).Conduct regular site technical inspections and plan and conduct internal and external audits across fabrication, welding, mechanical, and civils activities, including trenchless and open-cut pipeline sections.Lead Non-Conformance Report (NCR) management: raise, investigate, track, and verify closure of NCRs with root cause analysis.Interface with design, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure quality is embedded through design verification, construction monitoring, and system handover.Coordinate materials testing and third-party inspections, particularly for pipe materials, welds, coatings, and civil foundations.Manage Quality Records and ensure traceability for weld maps, pressure testing, coating integrity, and mechanical completions.Support the readiness and execution of hydrostatic testing and commissioning with input into punch-lists and performance monitoring.Participate in lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the delivery lifecycle.Job DescriptionThe post holder will be joining an experienced, specialist Infrastructure and major projects contractor, who have a number of projects currently in the North.   • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Quality Engineer or Quality Manager role within large-scale infrastructure, pipeline, or energy sector projects.
  • Proven background in pipeline construction QA/QC, including trenchless technologies (HDD, auger bore), welding inspections, coating systems, and pressure testing.
  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualified, with the ability to manage audit processes and maintain quality systems to international standards.
  • Understanding of relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.8, BS 4515-1, API 1104, ISO 21809).
  • Competent in reviewing and compiling quality documentation such as ITPs, method statements, and quality dossiers for mechanical completion and handover.
  • Familiarity with Civil Engineering QA processes, particularly for works relating to access roads, AGI/BVS foundations, and reinstatement scopes.
  • Strong experience managing subcontractor quality deliverables and driving resolution of quality issues in a high-paced construction environment.
  • Qualification in welding inspection (CSWIP), NDT (PCN) or mechanical engineering background advantageous.
