We currently have a vacancy at ST3/4 or above level (participating in the middle grade/registrar rota out of hours) in our Paediatric department from 25 July 2025 to 25 July 2026, there may be opportunity to extend this post to 24months. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Department of Paediatrics. We are looking for enthusiastic, positive individuals with a commitment to improving the care given to our patients.You will be part of a team of doctors looking after patients on the paediatric wards working alongside the multi-disciplinary team.Main duties of the jobThe over-riding purpose is to support the provision of the highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement.o The post holder will be required to provide a comprehensive medical service to the inpatients, undertaking ward work and conducting outpatient clinics under the instruction and supervision of the appropriate Consultant.o To establish and maintain liaison with users of the service including local General Practitioners and other external agencies.o The post holder will undertake to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.o To actively participate in audit/teaching and research activities within the department.o Liaise with the multidisciplinary team regarding patient care.o There may be occasions where you are required to undertake similar duties at other hospitals within the Sherwood Forest hospitals NHS Trust.o Perform administrative work i.e. discharge summaries and letters/reports within prescribed timescales.o You will be expected to comply with the Royal College requirements for undertaking CME and to participate in the trusts appraisal system as appropriate.o So far as is consistent with the proper discharge of the above duties, the post holder undertakes to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues.About usWe employ over 5,000 people across our three hospital sites - King's Mill, Newark and Mansfield Community.Our dedicated team of over 650 volunteers give up their time to make a difference and enhance the experience of our patients and visitors.As an NHS Foundation Trust we are accountable to the Council of Governors which represents the views of members.We are proud to boast a membership totalling more than 15,000 - allowing our local communities opportunities to influence decisions and to demonstrate loyalty and support for our hospitals.We are proud of our improvements over the last five years at Sherwood Forest Hospitals, and we recognise we can improve further.   • MRCPCH written examinations
  • Must have completed at least four years' post graduate training, at least two of which will be in the NHS and in paediatrics; or have equivalent experience and competencies.
  • NLS and APLS/EPALS provider

  • Experience requisite to meeting all aspects of the job role
  • Ability to maintain clinical credibility and authority with a multi-professional team
  • Evidence of competence to work independently at middle grade level managing paediatric and neonatal patients with remote supervision (i.e. Consultant available but may be off site)

  • Previous experience in a multidisciplinary setting
