- Lead the subcontract function within the business line
- Support the SCM business line lead in staffing projects with subcontract resources
- Provide strategic guidance for implementation of processes related to sourcing, formation, and administration of subcontracts
- Understand the strategic subcontractors and customers in the area; maintain relationships
- Provide motoring and development to subcontract leaders, managers, and senior specialists in the business line.
- Interact with business line discipline counterparts, regional and global leadership
- Support the SCM lead in the area of subcontracts for budget and headcount planning
- Set the tone for diversity, resource training & development process
- Retain and develop a sufficient pool of subject matter experts in the business line to support projects.
- Support SCM lead in managing annual performance and salary review of subcontract function
- Develop succession plans for subcontract roles
- Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures
- Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures
- Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline
- 25+ years of total experience with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role
- Communication skills to interface with other team members
- Stable job history and ability to work in a team environment
- Previous EPC experience
- Advanced knowledge of safety standards and practices to support the subcontractor pre-qualification process
- Proficient knowledge of the entire project cycle from proposal through commissioning
- Expert ability to lead and manage subcontract activities for large, high-risk projects
- Expert ability to manage Subcontract Management personnel (e.g., training opportunities, coaching, mentoring, situational leadership, consideration of concerns, the value of the individual, etc.)
- Advanced ability to take ownership of issues and seek resolution
- Advanced ability to communicate professionally, clearly, and concisely in written and oral forms at all levels of the client, subcontractor, and other organizations
- Expert ability to organize personal work, manage time, and prioritize activities
- Advanced ability to assign staff work assignments based on roles and responsibilities, priorities, and staff skillsets
- Advanced ability to articulate project-specific goals and overall company and client objectives to subcontractors and staff
- Advanced ability to work within a matrix organization
- Advanced ability to take ownership of commercial relationships
- Advanced ability to ensure delivery of quality products
- Proficient knowledge of negotiation techniques
- Advanced ability to conduct negotiations
