- Manage a broad pipeline of opportunities and needs, coming from the regions.
- Maintain an overview of the global ELT/ edtech market to be able to identify opportunities to be shared cross-functionally, cross-divisionally and regionally as appropriate.
- Where appropriate, take the lead in nurturing global licensing opportunities from initiation through to closure to support the achievement of Divisional targets.
- Conduct critical analysis of opportunities to ensure that OUP only progresses to external negotiations/submission where we can deliver. Lead on drafting approval documentation for SLT, with opportunity, risk and strategic positioning clearly articulated.
- Provide in-depth knowledge and expertise to regions to advise on strategy and business model for specific opportunities, ensuring best practice and internal processes and governance are adhered to.
- Project manage complex opportunities with multiple stakeholders. Using a global view, triage specific requests for business solutions (e.g. custom product, PD), to ensure that resources are deployed effectively to drive genuine growth in revenue.
- Work closely with Business Operations to ensure legal, tax and regulatory compliance in all activities and act appropriately in order to uphold the highest standards expected by the OUP code of conduct.
- Contribute to strategic account management (owned by regions), providing subject matter expertise and best practice in areas such as negotiation skills, relationship building and industry knowledge.
- Take a global view to generate replicable ideas, continually partner with regions to explore new business opportunities, brainstorm new commercially innovative solutions, and bring new perspectives that move beyond OUP's legacy core business.
- Build a library of case studies from real non-standard opportunities that were captured and missed by OUP and competitors, to identify recurring challenges and improve our preparedness for future scenarios.
- Take an active part in team, department, project meetings and internal communications as necessary. Reporting on progress, blockers and next steps with regular accountabilities and special projects.
- Excellent organisational skills, accurate/attention to detail
- Experience of working with teams located in other countries (desirable)
- Proficient in the use of Outlook / Excel / Teams
- Excellent written, verbal and presentational communication skills in English
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple demands and time sensitive tasks
- Good understanding of the ELT sector, in EMEA in particular
- Experience in the wider education sector (desirable)
- Experience of working cross-functionally and with a range of stakeholders
- Experience/knowledge of negotiation, business development, developing and proposing business cases
