- Provide effective leadership on all aspects of the safeguarding children agenda, maintaining clinical and professional competence.
- Deliver expert safeguarding advice and support, particularly in complex, emotive, or sensitive cases.
- Offer strategic and operational guidance to ensure compliance with national legislation, local policies, and Trust standards.
- Promote early identification and management of safeguarding concerns through leadership, education, research, and best practice.
- Demonstrate advanced skills and legal literacy in safeguarding and family law to influence care pathways.
- Contribute to and initiate research to support evidence-based safeguarding practices.
- Provide direct line management to the maternity safeguarding team.
- Collaborate strategically with external partners and agencies.
- RM and/or relevant other experience
- Master's Degree in relevant subject or working towards i.e. nearly finished
- Evidence of continuing CPD in safeguarding
- Teaching qualification e.g. ENB 998 or equivalent
- Evidence of safeguarding supervision qualification
- Qualification in Management/Leadership
- Safeguarding/Child Protection qualification
- Significant experience as a Band 7 or above
- Significant Safeguarding / Child Protection experience
- Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of multi-agency working
- Experience of working with children and young people with complex medical/social needs
- Experience of providing safeguarding training
- Experience of delivering safeguarding supervision
- Experience of paediatric liaison
- Experience of participating in research studies
- Experience of chronology writing and involvement with Serious Incident Notifications
- Line management skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrate leadership ability across professional boundaries
- Proficient line manager of staff, able to manage performance, sickness and conduct effectively
- Ability to prioritise work effectively, meet deadlines and manage schedules.
- Handling clinical incidents and complaints
- Write/oversee reports including court ones; case conferences; quality assurance
