Harrow Safeguarding Adults Board want to recruit lay members to support and challenge local agencies in their work of protecting adults across our community.Multi-agency Safeguarding in HarrowIn Harrow, the statutory functions for safeguarding adults are overseen by the Harrow Safeguarding Adults Board (HSAB), a multi-agency group of leaders from Health, Police, Social Care, voluntary and community agencies and other partners who work to ensure multi-agency co-ordination to keep adults safe and supported.It has been proven over time across the UK that strong multi-agency safeguarding partnerships feature Lay Members, who provide independent challenge and insight into how to keep adults safe. The role of Lay Member is crucial in holding safeguarding agencies to account and to support the HSAB as it continually strives to improve multi-agency safeguarding outcomes for adults in Harrow. About you:Key Activity - Lay MembersThe successful candidate will partake in:
  • Quarterly whole partnership meetings (where all agencies involved in safeguarding are present) or;
  • Smaller quarterly sub-groups which:
  • do deep dive quality assurance work
  • review our safeguarding learning and development and
  • review individual serious safeguarding cases.
Key Qualities - Lay MembersThe successful candidate will:
  • have a keen interest in child or adult safeguarding and in achieving good outcomes for children or adults through effective partnership working;
  • be confident in taking opportunities to constructively to challenge senior leaders and shape multi-agency safeguarding decision-making;
  • be committed to regularly attending and supporting the HSCP and HSAB as Lay Members.
