Vickerstock are delighted to be working in partnership with a well-established red meat processor that operates to the highest industry standards. With a BRCGS Food Safety AA rating, this site based in Antrim area has built a strong reputation for quality, compliance, and continuous improvement. They're proud of their tight-knit, collaborative team and are now looking to bring on a Technical Manager to support ongoing food safety and quality assurance activities.This is a practical, varied role ideal for someone looking to gain extensive technical knowledge in a high-standards meat processing environment. The Technical Manager will support the day-to-day food safety and quality assurance activities, help maintain compliance with BRCGS and regulatory standards, and ensure accurate documentation and traceability throughout operations.What your day to day will look like:
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of the site's Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS).
  • Carry out routine quality checks, including product, temperature, hygiene and traceability verifications.
  • Help prepare for and support external audits (typically BRCGS and regulatory inspections).
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all technical activities.
  • Collect product and environmental samples for testing (microbiological, shelf-life, water, etc.).
  • Support in the investigation of customer complaints and non-conformances, including root cause analysis.
  • Participate in internal audits (GMP, hygiene, traceability) and corrective action tracking.
  • Assist with training staff on induction, hygiene, food safety practices, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Monitor and update product specifications and supplier approvals as needed.
  • Work closely with management and production staff to promote a food safety and quality culture on site.
What you'll need to succeed:
  • Background or qualification in Food Science, Food Safety, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in a food production or technical management role (ideally meat or FMCG).
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach with the confidence to work on the factory floor.
  • Understanding of BRCGS and food safety standards.
