- We are seeking to appoint an analyst / consultant to support our environmental assessment team.
- You will be responsible for undertaking tasks associated with environmental assessment particularly Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA) with a focus on assessing Water Industry related plans and programmes.
- You will be required to support tin the collection, analysis, interpretation and visualisation of environmental and water datasets including geospatial representation.
- You will work collaboratively as part of a wider team of multi-disciplinary water and environmental experts that include specialists in the fields of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Habitat Regulation Assessment (HRA), Water Framework Directive (WFD), Natural Capital, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), water resources, hydro-ecology, ground and surface water hydrology, flood risk, geomorphology, water quality and aquatic and terrestrial ecology.
- Elements of all of these disciplines can feature in our work which includes a focus on water resources, drought planning, surface water, groundwater and wastewater investigations.
- There is also the opportunity to work with other parts of our water, environmental and ecological teams to support in data analysis, GIS, environmental assessment and site surveys.
- An understanding of the water sector primarily in the UK.
- An awareness that encompasses, environmental assessment and planning, water resources environmental assessment (particularly SEA, but ideally other environmental assessment such as WFD, HRA, BNG, natural capital plus ecology and water quality programmes that support UK water companies, water regulators, government and local authority clients.
- Data processing, analysis, interpretation and visualisation.
- An interest and background in environmental assessment and water resources planning; ideally with working knowledge of undertaking environmental impact assessment / SEA.
- Have a relevant degree and ideally a post graduate degree that demonstrates a sound overall environmental background.
- Awareness and understanding of environmental monitoring programmes
- Strong analytical skills and ability to process and interpret water and environmental datasets
- Excellent team working.
- Enthusiastic, keen to learn and able to act quickly and flexible across projects.
- Excellent report writing.
- Ability to fault find and problem solve in challenging environments.
- Ambitious, enthusiastic and self-motivated to thrive in this busy and demanding environment.
- Good IT skills commonly used software, e.g., Microsoft Office, Internet, email and GIS.
- GIS skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Working knowledge of undertaking environmental impact assessment / SEA
