About the roleSZC is ultimately owned by two shareholders, EDF and HMG. The shareholders hold their
investment in SZC through NNB Holdings Company (SZC) Limited. Over the course of the
current shareholding arrangements the shareholdings of the two shareholders will change.The shareholders will fund SZC up until Financial Close through equity in line with the approved schedule
and budget. SZCs business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually
decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure (including activities relating to hydrogen,
direct air capture and/or desalination) at Sizewell C in Suffolk. The principal objectives of the current
development phase of the SZC project are to agree and implement the Capital Raise Plan, including
completing an equity and debt raise, agree the core supply chain contracts and obtain the regulatory permits
and licences required for the construction phase of the Project (including the core environmental permits
and nuclear site licence).Prior to the government investment decision SZC operated as part of EDF in the Nuclear Development
business unit and was staffed by EDF colleagues and independent contractors who are now in the process
of transferring to the direct employment of SZC. It is setting itself up as an organisation capable of
delivering a new nuclear power plant, from investment case and funding, to construction, commissioning,
operations, maintenance and decommissioning.The SZC construction programme has a technical and commercial business case predicated on technical
replication of Hinkley Point C. EDF will be an important supplier of nuclear capability for the SZC
Programme from its established nuclear business footprint in the UK.What you'll be doingThe Consents Engineer will support the Delivery team, working closely with the SZC consent team, in the
identification of the need for all Consents, the production of relevant supporting information and
management of any conditions applied to approved Consents. They will develop & co-ordinate the
supporting information and documentation for Consent submittals. Requirements of the role include
requesting, compiling, and providing feedback on the required technical documentation necessary for Pre-
Application submission in conjunction with the SZC Consent team. They will liaise with the Consents team
on requirements and provision of suitable information to support the Application. They will also liaise with
other relevant technical teams to provide relevant information including supply chain. Liaison with Consent
Granting Bodies/ regulators will be via the SZC Consents team to ensure single point of contact. In addition,
the Consent Engineer will provide a reporting function to the Project Manager on the progress of Consents
and associated risks. Prior to construction the Consents Engineer will check all necessary Consents are in
place for works, conditions applied to consents are being monitored and adhered to.Identify Consentable areas within a scope of works and provide support and guidance on the Consent
needs to the wider team.
Develop a working understanding of the contract and technical requirements of various Consents
including but not limited to Water, Ecology, Marine and Noise & Vibration. (Deferring to the SZC
Consents team expertise for issue of consents advice and guidance to the wider project team and
response to consent related queries.)
Liaise with SZC Consent Team to track the progress of upcoming, ongoing, and completed Consents,
tracking in line with the project programme.
Provide feedback to the Project Manager on future Consents requirements so these can be
incorporated into the programme utilising SZC Consent team durations
Attendance to Early engagement, Pre-Application and Consent review meetings with the relevant
Consent Granting Bodies (CGB) and Regulators, as co-ordinated by the SZC Consents team.
Provide feedback to the Project Manager from engagements with CBGs
Co-ordinate supporting technical documentation from supply chain, method led engineering and
design for consent submissions
Be fully aware of the programme requirements and assist in ensuring that all activities and decisions
are prioritised based on the need to minimise risk.
Interfaces with the SZC Consents Team, Planning Team, Construction Team and Supply chain.
Data collection of interactions with external stakeholders (meeting minutes, file notes). Compliance
documentation for Consent conditions.Who we're looking forEssential
