The position arises due to the promotion of the previous role holder and the scope transfer of design work from France to EPR-E in the UK. The position will be based in Bristol, UK (with occasional travel to Paris and the HPC site as parts of the wider team are based in these locations). Applicants interested in a part time role (minimum 0.7FTE) will be considered.The Lead Quality Engineer works closely with the Project Quality Manager to manage the Quality of engineering/design deliverables produced by EPR-E for the HPC project, with respect to the Management System in force and the contract Quality requirements. As defined in more detail in the 'Principal Accountabilities' section below, the individual will contribute to oversight of the Integrated Management System and other Quality Management documentation; management of quality-related issues; reporting of quality metrics and shortfalls; stakeholder management of other interested parties and the line management of a small team of Quality Engineers.Principal Accountabilities of the role will include:
  • Overseeing and managing the treatment of situations adverse to Quality: Audit findings, condition reports, non-conformances etc. until proper resolution has been achieved.
  • Contributing to the oversight of the (Integrated Management System) for EPR-E, including participation in process review activities.
  • Ensuring that knowledge of Quality processes and instructions is widely deployed and implemented within the project teams, including provision of training and awareness sessions where necessary.
  • Setting quality targets, including monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of project quality management by following up and analysing audits, non-conformances, corrective actions and client issues; using root cause analysis techniques where relevant.
  • Developing and maintaining an effective network of correspondents (across the entire business) tasked with the timely detection, handling and resolution of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
ProfileTo be considered, the following qualifications, skills and experience is essential:
  • Degree Level education or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • Fundamental experience in a quality-related engineering discipline
  • Knowledge of quality related continuous improvement tools (preferably 8D methodology)
  • Experience in performance of Root Cause Analysis
  • Good understanding of requirements and expectations of Quality Management systems, regulations, nuclear industry operating experience and best practices
  • Line management experience in a highly regulated, technical environmen
  • Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, setting exemplary standards to create a strong nuclear safety and quality culture
  • Comfortable working as part of an MDT (multi-disciplinary team), able to balance conflicting priorities
  • Enjoys being inclusive while working in a multicultural environmen
  • Naturally promotes positive, pro-active and collaborative behaviours, creating an environment where people want to work
  • Positive, calm and can-do attitude. Able to find pragmatic resolutions to multiple and often conflicting quality priorities, when under considerable time and delivery pressure.
  • Fluent English.
The following qualifications, skills and experience is desirable:
  • Working knowledge of the French language
  • Nuclear New Build, EPR or PWR experience
  • Experience of EPR-specific quality management processes
  • Formal auditor qualification accredited to ISO9001 or ISO19443
  • Achieved or working towards chartered status with the CQI or equivalent professional institute.
