
Consultant Old Age Inpatient Psychiatrist - Woodbury Unit

- To act as clinical supervisor to the doctors working on the unit, providing effective education, facilitating their development, and promoting high standards of medical care.
- To ensure own continued professional development and support a culture of lifelong learning.
- To undertake a regular appraisal and develop a personal development plan.
- To support new staff and their integration within the team.
- To support training across the team including opportunities for professional development and implementation of new policies and guidelines.
- To provide in-service training and teaching to Medical Students, Trainee Doctors and Resident Doctors, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- To engage in the weekly Academic Teaching Programme.
- To undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients and record clinical activity accurately, comprehensively and promptly.
- The post holder will be expected to have good IT skills and to use the Trusts electronic case record system.

- Approved Clinician status, or eligibility for it.
- oMastery in the management of a broad range of mental disorders in older adults
- oExperience in managing patients from different cultural backgrounds.
- oWorking with interpreters and translators
- oExtensive knowledge of the biological, psychological, and social determinants of mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment interventions.
- oAn understanding of leadership and evidence of how this has been put into practice.
- Excellent clinical skills
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
