About The RoleThis is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of an award-winning Transport team, who have won numerous awards for Operational, Business and H&S excellence over the last two years.Due to the continued growth of the business, we are looking to recruit an Assistant Transport Manager to join our depot in Bristol Avonmouth. You will be responsible for the supervision of the Transport Depot and covering the Transport Manager in their absence.The Assistant Transport Manager will work 40 hours per week over 5 days, Monday to Friday inclusive. During peak operational periods hours may vary to 40 hours a week over 5 days, Monday to Sunday. You will be given notice prior to peak periods.Main Responsibilities:
  • Assist our transport management team in the smooth running of the transport function
  • Ensure all vehicles are maintained in line with legal requirements
  • Assist Drivers with tasks in the Transport Yard when required
  • Ensure Drivers are managed correctly to work within the driver's hours and working time regulations, using the company recognised processes to manage full compliance
  • Thoroughly investigate any incidents, accidents and near misses when required
  • Assist the training team with the addition of new drivers to the transport department
  • Support the Transport Manager and training team with the recruitment of new drivers
  • Be flexible to cover holidays etc

About YouDesired Skills and Knowledge:
  • Managers CPC or willing to work towards
  • HGV Class 1 experience is desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of Assimilated Driving Hours
  • Management experience and the ability to train and motivate a team
  • Great communication skills
  • Microsoft Word and Excel experience
