To request the full terms of the Recruitment and retention payment or relocation allowance please email Medical Recruitment Team -medicalrecruitment@sabp.nhs.ukWould you like to work in an organisation that sits in the top 10 best Mental Health organisations in the country to work in?We are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to work in our well-established Surrey Heath Children and Young Service team.The Postholder will be responsible for providing clinical input and leadership to our Children and Young Peoples Services Community Team Northeast Hampshire, Aldershot, working alongside a multidisciplinary team in line with New Ways of Working and our i-THRIVE framework.We provide various community services, integrated health and social care, early intervention, and detection programmes, and highly specialised therapy and treatment. Our high-quality care focuses on enabling people to live well with their conditions and to work towards recovery.Main duties of the jobYou'll have the opportunity of working within a well-established and friendly team of highly skilled professionals who are passionate and committed to the care needs of our children and young people.You would be responsible for providing a diagnostic, assessment and treatment service for children and adolescents with mental health problems within a multi-disciplinary approach to care, promoting high-quality multidisciplinary working and relationships. On average, a full-time consultant would complete 2-3 monthly assessments. Patients have a consultant review after 6 weeks of treatment in the team and then every 2-3 months.You will participate in an emergency out-of-hours rota, providing back-up for junior doctors and professionals in assessing young people seen in A&E.You'll have opportunities to support, supervise and train our Junior Medical Staff within the team.Our Offer:

  • MB BS or equivalent recognised medical qualification.
  • Full medical registration with a license to practice.
  • Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act(or within 6 to 12 months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalent
Desirable
  • Relevant higher degree, e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications
  • MRCPsych or equivalent
  • Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills.
EligibilityEssential
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
Desirable
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within three months of appointment
  • In good standing with GMC concerning warnings and conditions on practice
Clinical Skills, Knowledge & ExperienceEssential
  • Knowledge of legislation, Department of Health Guidance and literature and its implications for clinical practice
  • Knowledge of NHS strategic vision in the Next Stage Review (High-Quality Care for All)
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
  • Experience working with various patient groups presenting with the full range of clinical severity across different care settings, including community, inpatient, and specialist teams
