- Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all legal and procedural regulations.
- Perform surface preparation (hand, mechanical, blasting) and assist with blast set-up as needed.
- Apply coatings using brush, roller, or spray – knowledge of spray set-up is beneficial.
- Understand coating systems: primers, high build coatings, one and two-pack systems.
- Perform quality control checks, including film thickness and environmental readings.
- Use access equipment such as scaffolding and mobile platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Desirable: experience on nuclear or construction sites.
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing work demands.
- Positive team contributor with a collaborative approach.
- Honest, open, and professional attitude.
Experience in coatings, blasting, or sprayingSecurity Requirements:
Successful candidates must be eligible to undergo BPSS and SC Clearance to work at the dockyard (Support will be provided through the application process).Pay Rates & Allowances:When Blasting:
PAYE - Basic: £22.00, OT1: £28.60, OT2: £35.20
UMBRELLA PAYE – Basic: £28.88, OT1: £38.04, OT2: £46.81
(Blasting work makes up most duties.)When Painting (Gold Rates):
PAYE - Basic: £18.00, OT1: £23.40, OT2: £28.80
UMBRELLA PAYE – Basic: £23.56, OT1: £31.12, OT2: £38:30
(Painting will be ad hoc depending on work programmes.)Taxable lodge allowance for travelling workers:
PAYE - £50.65 per day
UMBRELLA PAYE - £65.84 per day21 days annual leave + statutory bank holidays
38-hour basic week, with overtime available (Weekend and overtime work may be required based on business needs).
