Astute’s Power Team are working with a leading Waste Management company in the UK and are recruiting for a Support Operator to join the Operations Team of a large Energy from Waste plant.This role will encompass both “outside” duties in addition to being in the control room supporting the day to day operations.If you’re looking to secure your next challenge within the power industry, then submit your CV to apply today.
Responsibilities and duties:
As a Support Operator, you will be responsible for:
  • Assisting in the safe and efficient operation of the plant, complying with environmental regulations at all times
  • Performing plant walk rounds to monitor and test all outside plant equipment. This including steam turbines, boilers, pumps, water treatment plant and more
  • Identifying issues and defects in the operation of the plant performing first line maintenance duties when required
  • Operating overhead cranes, forklift trucks and other mobile plant when required
Professional qualifications:
We are looking for someone with the following:
  • An engineering qualification such as ONC / HNC / NVQ / City & Guilds is desirable. However, consideration will be given to candidates able to demonstrate an equivalent level of practical experience
  • Ideally qualified with an IOSH or similar Health & Safety certificate
Personal skills:
The Support Operator role would suit someone who has:
  • Able to demonstrate excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • At least 3 years’ experience in process plant operations. This could be from a power station, refinery or a petrochemical facility. Royal Navy marine engineers will also be considered.
  • A solid understanding of health & safety in an engineering environment
