Are you an Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to work for a well respected tier two contractor within highways, water and rail?ABOUT THE COMPANYThe company that I'm recruiting for is a privately owned, leading name within the Highways, Bridges, and Civil Engineering sector within England. They have become a very trusted partner with my many clients within Kent, Essex, Norfolk, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, East Midlands, and Yorkshire. The firm specialises in S278 and S38 works, as well as construction and maintenance work for all types of highways, from minor roads to motorways and major route construction. They also specialise in bridge infrastructure, utilities, and rail. The projects that they get generally involve plenty of concrete works, deep drainage, and major earthworks. My client prides themselves on the way they treat their staff, there's a brilliant working environment there. I have placed several people with this client, and all of them are still there and loving it.ABOUT THE ROLEThis is a superb, diverse, and exciting opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a growing contractor on roads, highways infrastructure, S278 works, and civil engineering projects. Due to widespread project variations, this also means you will work on a variety of contracts, mainly NEC but you'll also work on ICC contracts and JCT. The size of the projects will be mainly £5M/£6M but you could work on anything ranging in value from £1M – £30M. The types of works you'll be involved in can range between drainage, groundworks, earthworks, concrete works, and piling. Some of the duties will involve successfully managing contracts to Final Account status, maximising profitability, and building relationships with clients, to encourage repeat business. You will also be involved in maximising cash flow through the management of the debtors’ report, ensuring the information is up to date for senior management weekly as well as preparing, submitting, and agreeing on final accounts with both Clients and Subcontractors.REQUIREMENTSIt is essential you have good stability as a Quantity Surveyor working for a Civil Engineering contractor that has self-delivered highways and road infrastructure projects. It would be preferred that you have a degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management.REWARDS AND BENEFITSThis is an opportunity to work for a friendly contractor who can offer you long-term stability and progression. They're a contractor with a very low staff turnover, on average members of their staff stay there for 11 and a half years, this shows they look after their staff and respect their staff, as well as keep them busy. On top of this, you will be rewarded with a salary ranging between £30,000 – £40,000 + a car allowance on top.
