Responsibilities:
  • Working with Children and Young People who have a range of support needs - emotional, behavioural difficulties, family breakdown, disabilities
  • Support children in managing their behavior, offering guidance and techniques to handle emotional outbursts or difficult situations.
  • Provide day-to-day care, supervision, and emotional support to children and young people in the residential home.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to junior staff and support their development
  • Participate in the recruitment, training, and induction of new staff
  • Develop and implement care plans that focus on the individual needs of children and young people.
  • Take responsibility for the safety and well-being of all children and young people in care
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including daily logs, incident reports, and progress updates.
Shift Patterns:
  • Full-time: 24-hour shifts (including 8-hour sleepover) on a 9-week rolling rota (3 days on, 3 days off).
  • Part-time: 12-hour shifts (10 am - 10 pm) or 6-hour shifts (10 am - 4 pm / 4 pm - 10 pm).
To be considered for the Residential Practitioner role, ideally you will have:
  • HNC/SVQ Level 3- Children & Young People or equivalent
  • 2 + years children's residential or similar experience of working with Children and Young People
  • Clean Driving License
  • Able to work unsocial hours including weekends (rota basis)
