About usThe Faculty of Life Sciences (FLS) combines the strengths of UCL’s basic biological and preclinical sciences, some of its constituent research departments have long and distinguished histories that can be traced back to the early nineteenth century when UCL was founded and there are 11 Nobel Laureates associated with Life Sciences. The Faculty continues to build on existing strengths in cell and developmental biology, computational biology, evolutionary and population genetics, cellular and circuits neuroscience, and structural and molecular biology.The Faculty is home to over 3000 undergraduate and postgraduate taught students with more than 50% from outside the UK.About the roleWellbeing support is pivotal to the success of our students. The postholder will join a team supporting our students and enhancing their experience. They will work with the student body and staff to organise events and activities that enhance the student experience, provide assistance to create an inviting and welcoming environment and support the student tutoring system. They will act as a key contact for all wellbeing, support and student experience matters and ensure access to relevant guidance to assist in maintaining the mental and physical wellbeing of our students.This may include complex and challenging situations related to highly sensitive student issues and may involve arranging and managing one-to-one meetings with students.The post is an open-ended contract.Location: Bloomsbury, May require travel to UCL EastA job description and person specification can be accessed at the bottom of this page.   • Engage with the Faculty’s approach to the student journey from pre-arrival to graduation working closely with colleagues across FLS, and including the Faculty Marcomm team in relation to student communications and induction materials
  • Be a point of contact for students who encounter issues that affect their studies and provide them with advice and guidance and signpost them to other services as appropriate.
  • Work in partnership with other Faculty and UCL services to enable the effective management of student referrals. Liaise with students, staff and medical professionals as appropriate to ensure students are offered support in an effective, sensitive and sympathetic manner
  • Develop and maintain good working knowledge of the Faculty and UCL structures, programmes of study and professional requirements, contextualising them against student welfare and pastoral issues.
