Job summaryHealth Care AssistantAn opportunity has arisen at John Tasker House and Felsted for a Health Care Assistant (HCA).John Tasker House and Felsted surgeries are a friendly, supportive, teaching practice. Ideally, we are looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant.Main duties of the jobTo assist in patient care and practice-related duties as directed by and under the supervision of a registered healthcare professional. The HCA/Nurse will work collaboratively with the Primary Healthcare Team to meet the needs of our patients, following the surgery policies and procedures.Job PurposeTo assist the GPs and the Practice Nursing Team in the service and delivery of the care management of the practice population.About usThe practice has a main surgery in the centre of Dunmow and a branch surgery in nearby Felsted. Our core opening hours are 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Fridays. Additionally, the practice is open for extended access appointments on some evenings and some Saturdays.We are a friendly practice who have a values-based approach to recruitment. Our teams include a range of GPs, nurses, allied healthcare professionals and a full complement of administrative and reception staff.We have regular social events throughout the year and several other employee benefits.In addition to your salary and other benefits, you will be entitled to join the NHS Pension Scheme. We also offer a minimum of 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays.   • Be able to undertake other clinical assessments, including but not limited to: diabetic foot checks, Rockwood scoring, FRAT assessment
  • Act on alerts (e.g. QOF, local enhanced services etc.) and reminders during a consultation
  • Give immunisations under a PSD
  • Recognise your limitations and seek senior support where appropriate
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Strong IT skills
  • Clear, polite telephone manner
  • Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
  • SystmOne user skills
  • Effective time management (Planning & Organising)
  • Ability to work as a team member and autonomously
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
