Our commitment to wellbeing and career growth makes us a Top Employer for 14 years running.As an Engineering Project Manager you will deliver the capital of the Capital plan, work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered successfully. You will support in scoping concepts & developing solutions through to capex writing, submission, and management of projects. You will be accountable for project completion including contractor management, KPI sign off and ‘customer’ acceptance. Responsibilities:
  • To ensure that the UK projects comply with Environmental Health and Safety Legislation and operates within the internal (Global Environmental, Health and Safety Management System).
  • Own multiple standards across the UK as UK subject matter expert– as defined by BU Lead, including Contractor Management, Permit to Work, Work at height and Confined Spaces.
  • Provide regular coaching to other site standard owners, meeting at least quarterly.
  • Critical role in allocated projects to ensure safe execution of all change, compliance to CDM regulations and safe handover to operations.
  • To be an active member of project meetings and reviews to monitor compliance and ensure safe methods are adopted. Manage interface between site and project teams for EHS.
  • Manager ownership of 3rd party external providers, meeting regularly and reviewing key KPIs. External suppliers include safe contractor and EHS Global tech.
  • Central role in leading all investigations involving 3rd party independent contractors and updating the strike policy.
  • Onboard all 3rd party principle contractors in line with UK policies.
  • Regularly inspect project areas or sites to ensure compliance with health and safety standards including CDM regulations documenting findings and following up on corrective actions.
  • Flexible, can be available for support 24 hours/7 days as business needs dictate and travel to UK sites to support as necessary.
  • Critical role in EHS training across the UK in all topics relating to Contractor management and PTW.
  • Travel 25% of the time covering all UK supply chain sites.
  • Support HAZOP studies when required.
  • Ability to set and manage own agenda to achieve overall EHS strategy of the site/project.
Qualifications:
  • Experience of a regulatory driven environment (Environment, Health and Safety).
  • Knowledge of Construction, Design & Management Regulations.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety legislation.
  • Experience of operating in a Lean environment would be advantageous.
  • Strong influencing skills with the ability to manage in all directions, including influencing people higher in the organisation and in other sites and functions. Deal with external agencies e.g. HSE, Environment Agency.
  • Comfortable dealing with difficult discussions and situations. Team player who is able to adapt to different audiences with a strong coaching style. Ability to accept challenge and form logical responses based on expert knowledge of subject matter. Understand when to escalate and when to take action personally.
  • Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma or an equivalent degree qualification.
  • Excellent communication skills - able to communicate clearly and confidently at all levels - 1:1, in writing and presenting in group situations.
  • Experience - In a similar role with transferable competence set as above.
