Job Description :A forward-thinking Independent Connection Provider (ICP) and Engineering Procurement Contractor (EPC) is seeking a highly organised Technical / Design Manager to join their growing team. The company delivers high-voltage electrical connections, renewable energy schemes, and large-scale infrastructure projects across the UK.This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the UK’s energy transition, leading technical design and engineering functions across multiple connection and renewable schemes.Role OverviewAs Technical / Design Manager, you will take ownership of the technical delivery across ICP and EPC projects—overseeing internal and external design teams, managing client interfaces, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage technical design elements of ICP and EPC projects across the UK.Supervise multidisciplinary teams, providing engineering oversight and support.Review and approve design documentation (schematics, layouts, specifications, reports).Ensure technical compliance with G99, G100, ENA, DNO, and relevant H&S regulations.Manage client-facing technical discussions and address design-related queries.Conduct project reviews to identify risks and maintain quality standards.Provide technical input to bids and tenders, including scoping and estimations.Drive improvements in design processes, adopting industry best practices.Support the professional development of junior engineers and design staff.RequirementsRequirementsDegree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or similar (Chartered status advantageous).Minimum 5 years’ experience in a technical or design leadership role within ICP, EPC, or HV sectors.Strong background in HV connection design (substations, grid connections, infrastructure).Working knowledge of G99/G100, ENA, and DNO requirements.Proficiency in relevant design tools (AutoCAD, Revit, or power systems analysis software).Excellent communication and leadership skills; experience managing teams and stakeholders.Ability to travel to project sites when required.DesirableFamiliarity with renewable energy systems, battery storage, and EV infrastructure.BIM experience and understanding of digital design workflows.Project Management certification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP).Benefits
