Job Category: Fire, Rescue & Community SafetyJob Description:The Role:This position is based within the Driver Training Department of Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service. The post holder will operate countywide as part of a dedicated team of Emergency Response Driving Instructors. The role involves the delivery of high-quality, compliant emergency response driver training in accordance with national standards and service policies, contributing to the operational readiness and safety of personnel across the organisation.This position will be subject to a standard criminal record disclosure check.Working Pattern:37hrs, 5 days per week. There will be a requirement for the successful candidate to provide occasional weekend working. This role supports flexible working, in line with service need.What you'll need to succeed:The successful candidate will need:
  • Full, clean UK driving licence including Category C (LGV)
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
  • Excellent instructional and coaching skills, with the ability to adapt to different learning styles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback.
  • Competence in maintaining accurate training records and producing written reports.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small, specialist team.
  • Willingness to travel across the county and work flexibly to meet operational and training demands.
  • Commitment to upholding the values and standards of Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service.
