On-the-job teacher training provided **Step Teachers in Manchester are recruiting for a Trainee Teacher for an independent Alternative Education Provision in Trafford for secondary aged children with Social Emotional or Mental Health needs, SEMH.Role: SEMH Trainee Teacher at independent Alternative Education Provision in Trafford.Start: September 2025.Contract: Permanent.Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday.Excellent Pay: up to £24,000.Paid to your usual scale rate from 13th week onwards.10 minutes’ walk from Metrolink tram stop.Easily accessible by busWhat you’ll do:
  • Teach small, ability-based groups (max 10) in a nurturing setting.
  • Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to SEMH needs.
  • Work closely with SEN staff, therapists, and senior leaders.
  • Support and guide your class-based SEN TA’s.
  • Track pupil progress and share meaningful feedback with families and leaders.
  • Develop students' well-being, life skills, and resilience alongside academic progress.
  • Foster a calm, consistent learning environment using positive behaviour strategies.
  • Take part in regular CPD and whole-school development initiatives.
