In this role, you will be the technical product owner for products within the server area. This will include Service Improvements, road mapping products, and ensuring we are getting the most of the products we have. The role will also involve project work, designing and implementing solutions that align with company and industry standards.You will have the opportunity to work across a wide range of server technologies, including hardware, OS, virtualization, backups, and monitoring, while ensuring that solutions are secure, scalable, and efficient.What you’ll love:
  • Lead product ownership for server technologies, from design to implementation, and lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, project managers, and third-party vendors to deliver high-quality server solutions.
  • Design, install, and configure server infrastructure, including hardware, OS, monitoring, and backup systems.
  • Ensure adherence to company security policies and industry best practices.
  • Create clear, concise documentation for designs, configurations, and handover to operations.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of server products, driving continuous service improvements and process enhancements.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for the Operations team.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across the Asda Technology function.
What you’ll need:
  • Extensive experience supporting and managing Windows, Linux servers, and VMware infrastructure (L3 level).
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
  • Microsoft Server or VMware certifications.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
  • Experience in Enterprise Retail IT environments.
  • Familiarity with server solutions hosted in Azure.
  • Hands-on experience with Veeam Backup & Replication.
  • Knowledge of automation tools like Ansible, Packer.
