If you meet the requirements and are looking for a long-term opportunity leading to permanent work in industrial surface protection – we’d love to hear from you.The OpportunityYou will be involved in delivering anti-corrosion protection to ferrous and nonferrous surfaces. This includes mechanical preparation, abrasive blast cleaning (open and closed loop), and applying a variety of protective coating systems such as one and two-pack epoxies.Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all legal and procedural regulations.
  • Perform surface preparation (hand, mechanical, blasting) and assist with blast set-up as needed.
  • Apply coatings using brush, roller, or spray – knowledge of spray set-up is beneficial.
  • Understand coating systems: primers, high build coatings, one and two-pack systems.
  • Perform quality control checks, including film thickness and environmental readings.
  • Use access equipment such as scaffolding and mobile platforms.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Desirable: experience on nuclear or construction sites.
  • Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing work demands.
  • Positive team contributor with a collaborative approach.
  • Honest, open, and professional attitude.
Qualifications & RequirementsTrain the Painter Silver/Gold, OPITO, or ICATS Blasting certification
Experience in coatings, blasting, or sprayingSecurity Requirements:
Successful candidates must be eligible to undergo BPSS and SC Clearance to work at the dockyard (Support will be provided through the application process).Pay Rates & Allowances:When Blasting:
PAYE - Basic: £22.00, OT1: £28.60, OT2: £35.20 Backshift: £28.60 Nightshift: £35.20
UMBRELLA PAYE – Basic: £28.88, OT1: £36.87, OT2: £45.38 Backshift: £37.66 Nightshift: £46.44
(Blasting work makes up most duties.)When Painting (Gold Rates Silver&Bronze rates avail.):
PAYE - Basic: £18.00, OT1: £23.40, OT2: £28.80 Backshift: £23.40 Nightshift: £28.80
UMBRELLA PAYE – Basic: £23.56, OT1: £31.12, OT2: £38:30 Backshift: £30.74 Nightshift: £37.92
(Painting will be ad hoc depending on work programmes.)Taxable lodge allowance for travelling workers:
PAYE - £50.65 per day
UMBRELLA PAYE - £65.84 per day21 days annual leave + statutory bank holidays
38-hour basic week, with overtime available (Weekend and overtime work may be required based on business needs).
