The successful candidate will participate in a 1 in 9 on-call rota in the Acute Trust. The Consultant will be on call on a weekday with an expectation of on-site cover to the handover which happens at 9.30pm. This arrangement helps with the evening rush of referrals and will improve the quality of care. The juniors benefit from the added input of a consultant.The department is a busy general Paediatric department. We run a consultant of the week rota. The Consultant has no outpatient duties that week and every day runs the handover meetings and then takes the Paediatric ward round. They are then available to assist with assessing referrals and teaching.Main duties of the jobThis post will provide further support to the Paediatric Team. You will contribute to the team of Paediatricians providing emergency on call cover services at South Warwickshire Foundation Trust (SWFT). There will be outpatient clinics provided at the Acute Trust and in the Community clinics. The post holder will be expected to work with the existing team of professional colleagues and managers in the efficient running and development of Paediatric services. The appointee will:Join the Paediatric Consultant team to deliver a first-class service at SWFT and contribute to the development of the services.o Support the department in meeting the challenging key performance indicators.o Delivery agreed standards of care.o Support delivery of activity targets in partnership with Clinical Commissioning Groups and support service developments, where possible.o Allow flexibility through effective prospective cover.o Provide professional supervision, direction, and training for junior medical staff.o Take an active role in audit, research, teaching, and governance.About usCome and join a Trust rated Outstanding by the CQC.
