Permanent / Temp-to-PermWe are currently recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant (ASD specialist) for an SEND school on the Isle of Sheppey area to work on a full-time basis. The ideal SEND Teaching Assistant will have experience working with ASD / Autistic students of primary or secondary school age. You will ideally be a TA, LSA or Support Worker with SEND and ASD / Autism experience who will be responsible for providing support to children in a school environment.This school provides a specialist education for children and young people of primary and secondary age diagnosed with Autism or with similar needs. Many have sensory difficulties and have social & emotional difficulties such as anxiety which has often resulted in low levels of mainstream school attendance and additional needs (i.e. speech and language). As a SEND Teaching Assistant you will support students in lesson, accompany them in outdoor learning activities and work with them in specialist provisions. You will be required to engage your learners in their lessons whilst caring for their emotional and pastoral needs.Your responsibilities as a SEND / ASD Teaching Assistant will include:
- Providing support for learners both in and out of the classroom
- Managing behaviour as required
- Assisting with maintaining a safe and positive environment throughout the school
- Being alert to any safeguarding or pastoral concerns
- Helping classroom teachers to deliver a first-class education
