- Full registration with the General Medical Council
- Valid License to practice
- Primary medical qualification (eg. MB ChB or equivalent)
- MRCP(UK) or equivalent
- CCT Geriatric Medicine or equivalent
- Broad Knowledge & Clinical Expertise in: a) Acute Medicine b) Geriatric Medicine
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team (e.g. surgeons, nurses, therapists)
- Up to date knowledge of a) Osteoporosis b) Falls Prevention c) National Hip Fracture Database d) Best Practice Tariff
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
- Working on an Acute Medical Ward caring for older patients
- Working on a Rehabilitation Ward
- Clinical Audit
- Clinical Governance including Incident Reporting
- Completed Quality Improvement / Audit Cycles
- Able to give examples of Critical Incidents reported
- Use of evidence based practice
- Information technology skills (e.g. e-mail, word processing & some spreadsheet skills)
- The applicant must demonstrate appropriate professional behaviour, i.e integrity, honesty, confidentiality, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013)
- The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing, and speaking in English language that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013)
