Test & Evaluation Engineer - Fixed Wing (Hybrid)Company: BDUKL - United KingdomJob ID: 00000420028Date Posted: 2024-03-27Location: GBR - Lossiemouth, UKJob Description Qualifications:Boeing Test & Evaluation UK (BT&E UK) is responsible for the delivery of safe and efficient test operations of Boeing products in the UK. BT&E UK is currently planning for future Fixed Wing flight trials on Boeing aircraft in the UK.The Lead Test & Evaluation Engineer role will be the UK focal for the E7 Wedgetail test execution team in the delivery of the ground and flight test programme. Primarily this will consist of participation within and coordination of a combined test team from multiple countries and organisations. This will include test planning, execution and reporting as well as providing technical advice from a test & evaluation perspective to the Flight Test Programme Manager. Furthermore at a BT&E team level the role should be able to assist with finance, labour tracking, resource forecasting and research to assist strategic decision making.The successful candidate is expected to be able to conduct the following:
  • Coordinate multiple stakeholders in the delivery of the test programme, participating in testing as test director where required.
  • Coordinate Test & Engineering functions from across Boeing to enable complex testing to be conducted in compliance with UK regulation
  • Represent Boeing T&E/Flight Operations at RAF Lossiemouth and other locations.
  • Be able to communicate clearly with the customer, suppliers and other BDUK functions in the delivery of the test programme.
  • Work under minimal direction as the BT&E UK representative on site
  • Participate in test execution and conduct T&E activity on non-production aircraft where required.
  • Develop planning and execution documents; test plans, test procedures, hazard analyses and reports.
  • Provide T&E support to Boeing Design & Engineering teams and assist with product development and certification activities.
  • Ability to mentor other team members
Required competencies
  • Must be able to pass an CAA (Class II), FAA (Class III) and UK military (Cat 3) aviation medical.
  • An Engineering degree
  • Understanding of Test and Evaluation process and how it relates to Military Aircraft Regulation in the UK
  • Knowledge of Safety and Quality Assurance process interactions with test operations, including incident notifications, and anomaly documentation and resolution processes.
  • An understanding of the support functions necessary to deliver a complex military test programme (e.g. security, maintenance, supply chain)
  • Ability to communicate clearly using Microsoft Office products
  • The role will have significant UK and US Boeing interface and therefore a person who is diplomatic whilst being strong minded is required.
  • Clear understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle
Preferred competencies
  • Graduate of a UK military recognized test pilot school (ETPS, EPNER, USAFTPS or USNTPS) or Aerosystems course.
  • Prior experience of mission and communications system testing on military platforms
  • Detailed technical knowledge of any Boeing rotary,UAS or fixed wing aircraft.
  • T&E Experience on fixed wing or UAS aircraft.
  • Experience of working in a Combined Test Team.
  • Understanding of Programme Management Best Practices
  • Experience in working with international collaborative organizations or partnerships.
  • Experience of estimating resource requirements and managing programme risks, issues and opportunities
