The Role As the Commercial Manager, you will lead all commercial aspects of our carpentry and joinery operations—from tendering and procurement to contract management and final account settlements. You’ll be instrumental in improving commercial processes, ensuring profitability, and supporting project delivery teams across multiple live jobs.Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the full commercial lifecycle of carpentry & joinery projects
- Lead tender reviews, cost planning, and bid submissions
- Manage contract negotiations and administration (JCT, bespoke, etc.)
- Forecast project revenues, margins, and risk exposure
- Oversee subcontract procurement and supplier agreements
- Ensure timely valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Support QS and project management teams with guidance and governance
- Provide regular commercial reporting to senior leadership
- Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the carpentry/joinery or fit-out sector
- Strong understanding of bespoke joinery, materials, and manufacturing processes
- Excellent knowledge of contract law and construction contracts (JCT essential)
- Skilled in cost control, forecasting, and commercial strategy
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills
- Relevant degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar
- Proficient in MS Excel and commercial software
- Full UK driving licence
