Biffa's Specialist Services Industrial Division has secured the waste management contract for the build of Sizewell C, a major nuclear power station development in Suffolk.With a projected 9 to 12-year construction period, this high-profile project mirrors our successful work at Hinkley Point C. Operations will eventually move to a purpose-built Waste Consolidation Centre, but initially, our team will manage the contract directly from the client's site, overseeing collections, subcontractors, reporting, invoicing, and waste consultancy.Your core responsibilities.
- Champion a proactive safety culture, ensuring all site operations meet Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Assist in developing and delivering HSE strategies, induction content, and ongoing education.
- Review and update key documents including RAMS, EMP, EICP, and Health & Safety plans.
- Ensure full compliance of 3rd party contractors with all HSE and environmental requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, driving continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate incident records, analyse data, and identify opportunities for performance improvement.
- Keep HSE communications current and relevant, producing reports and bulletins as required.
- Support environmental incident response and participate in emergency response activities.
- NEBOSH qualification (essential) with strong HSE focus.
- Extensive operational experience in services or logistics, ideally within a unionised environment.
- Proven ability to deliver against clearly defined service delivery KPIs.
- Track record of driving continuous improvement and managing Profit & Loss.
- Strong transport/logistics knowledge with understanding of time-critical service requirements.
- Knowledge of waste industry regulations and current/future environmental & health & safety legislation.
