Hybrid and Flexible Working including countywide travel.Interviews: September 2025This role offers hybrid working arrangements and will require you to work from county council office buildings and make regular site visits, as well as the flexibility of home working as appropriate. Final arrangements to be confirmed with successful candidate.You will need to be able to travel independently around the county, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes available.The OpportunityWe are seeking a dedicated Asbestos Surveyor to join our team. In this key role, you’ll be responsible for:
  • Conducting regular inspections of known asbestos-containing materials across council properties.
  • Maintaining and updating asbestos records using our Property Asset Management System (Concerto) and Auto CAD systems.
  • Reviewing asbestos reports, updating registers and plans, and ensuring accurate documentation of remedial works.
  • Liaising with internal teams, customers, and asbestos contractors to ensure smooth and compliant service delivery.
We would love to hear from you if you have:
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to work in a methodical manner for data capture and entry.
  • HNC/HND level or Degree or equivalent level of academic attainment or a number of years’ experience within the asbestos surveying industry and the following qualifications or their equivalent: BOHS Qualification (British Occupational Hygiene Society), P402, P405.
  • Knowledge of the asbestos surveying process and current asbestos management regulations, with experience of working in this field.
  • Advanced knowledge of asbestos risk assessment techniques.
  • Experience in using asbestos management databases.
  • Sound and accurate IT knowledge, e.g. use of maintenance databases/software, Microsoft Office
  • An understanding of AutoCAD would be an advantage, but training will be given.
  • Proven successful experience of working as part of a team to effectively meet objectives within agreed timescales.
  • Awareness of health and safety and data protection legislation.
