Company DescriptionFowler Welch (Part of the Culina Group) operates in the fresh produce sector providing time critical logistics solutions for major retailers, growers and manufacturers across the UK.At Culina Group we have a winning culture, we believe that our culture is one of the reasons our company continues to thrive… A place where you're valued, challenged, and inspired!Job DescriptionWe have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Team Leader to join our friendly team in Evesham on a full time permanent basis.As the Transport Team Leader you will be responsible for daily planning of company and third party resources, ensuring that all vehicles and drivers are given clear precise instruction, and are fully utilised.You will lead a team to ensure that all service levels are met cost effectively and within the constraints of drivers hours and H & S regulations.Salary: £33,000-£36,000 per annum depending on experience.Working Hours: Wednesday-Saturday, 21:30-07:30.Key Duties of a Transport Team Leader:
  • Ensure that all elements of the job are communicated effectively to all parties, particularly drivers and sub-contractors.
  • Plan the effective utilisation of drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors and agencies ensuring that all Company sites are fully considered when doing so.
  • Ensure that the team are working within a safe environment and follow driver hours regulations.
  • Liaise with retail department teams to optimise fleet/driver utilisation and resolve problems affecting delivery on time.
  • Assist in the control of equipment ensuring that customer requirements are met and recorded.
  • Liaise with customers regarding present or future developments.
  • Support and if necessary, provide cover for the Transport Operation Manager in meetings or customer visits.
  • To ensure all vehicle and trailer services are completed on time.
  • Oversee the effective application of the Company absence policy and procedures including monitoring of absence levels and conducting return to work discussions.
  • Identify the training and development needs for team members and coach /organise/oversee solutions using own knowledge and company training tools.
Qualifications
  • Experience of working within a distribution / transport environment.
  • Sound geographical knowledge.
  • Knowledge & experience of tachograph / driving rules and regulations.
  • Attention to detail / accuracy.
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft office packages.
  • Excellent communication skills in order to deliver accurate information.
  • The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
  • Able to work as part of a team or individually.
