Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis your salary will be prorated to reflect this. Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Devon & Cornwall or Dorset Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same Scale.Type of employment: Fixed TermType of working arrangement: Home worker - A Home-Worker has their home as their formal place of work and will normally work at home for their full contracted hours of work.Temporary Role Duration: Until 31/03/2025If you are not currently a police staff employee and are successful for this post, you will be offered a Fixed Term contract.Please note that applicants applying for an internal or external secondment should seek support from their current line manager for their temporary release from their substantive role before applying. External secondment requests will need to be supported by the Force Executive. At the end of the secondment the successful applicant(s) would return to their substantive role. However, we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work on a part-time basis and we are willing to consider flexible working patterns subject to business need.Allowances: This role attracts no allowances.About the role: 1PURPOSEForensic science provides a vital service to policing, the public and ultimately victims of crime.The Forensic Capability Network supports the forensic work taking place locally in 43 police forces in England and Wales, which employ around 4,000 practitioners.We're funded and led by the policing community to provide fast access to national knowledge, advice, and capabilities - whether supporting forces with accreditation, taking part in innovative research, accessing commercial frameworks, support the community to have enough of the right people, in the right places, equipped with the right skills, to meet the changing nature of forensics in the CJS, and supporting the NPCC Digital Forensic Portfolio Lead.The Digital Forensics Scientific Officer's role plays a crucial role in steering and influencing the tactical and strategic direction of digital forensics across the NPCC by fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.This position requires a hands-on approach to collaboration, bringing together various entities to achieve common goals. The Officers are integral in representing the organisation in board meetings, working groups, and through presentations on ongoing projects. The role demands a strategic thinker with exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of navigating complex business environments and driving cohesive action among diverse stakeholder groups.The FCN Digital Forensics Scientific Office have a wide range of experience in their technical area but are also highly adaptable, leveraging this expertise to embrace and integrate new, evolving technologies.
