Job descriptionFinishing Shop Machine Operator£30,000 - £32,000 per annum plus 20% shift allowanceNewportI have a fantastic opportunity with a client based in Newport who due to increased productivity are recruiting for an experienced Finishing Shop Machine Operator. This is a business that supplies to various industries such as aerospace, defence, automotive, power generation and oil & gas to name a few.As Finishing Shop Machine Operator your role will be to efficiently operate manual grinding equipment to produce finished ground components in line with customer order requirements. To be considered for this role you will need previous experience of setting and operating manual cylindrical and surface grinding machines.Duties and responsibilities
  • Responsible for setting up and operating a variety of finishing equipment (cylindrical/ surface/ polishing).
  • Carry our routine operator maintenance tasks.
  • Responsible for quality of work and level production.
  • Ensure that components are finished accordingly to the quality standards/ customer drawings/ process documents for each application.
  • Inspect parts before and after processing to ensure preceding operations have been carried out correctly and to verify that your own work has met the required standards.
  • To gain thorough understanding, through training provided and experience of the factors that affect coating quality and be able to use that knowledge to ensure components are processed to approved methods.
  • Operate in a safe manner and undertake any training necessary to enable you to fulfil the requirements of your position.
Qualifications, skills, and experience
  • Previous experience of setting and operating manual cylindrical, and surface grinding machines
  • Previous experience of grinding Tungsten carbide coatings
  • Experience of reading engineering drawings
  • Competent in the use of measuring equipment and measuring techniques.
