Location: BristolJob SummaryRobert Half are proudly working with an established property services company in Bristol that are seeking a Senior Service Charge Accountant to lead its Service Charge Accounts Department. This key role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient financial reporting and service delivery across a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial properties.Key Responsibilities
- Deliver accurate and timely financial reports and documentation to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs), legislation, and best industry practices.
- Lead, support, and mentor the Service Charge Accounts team to achieve departmental objectives.
- Implement and maintain quality control measures across all service charge accounting activities.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to report on departmental performance and financial KPIs.
- Liaise with internal auditors and external accountants to ensure efficient account production and audit processes.
- Oversee all aspects of service charge accounting.
- Conduct financial assessments during budget periods, offering insights and recommendations to support client outcomes.
- Support client meetings and deliver financial reporting at key stages of the budget cycle.
- Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Client Relationship Team) to ensure seamless communication and service delivery.
- Develop, manage, and run payment processes to contractors and suppliers.
- Drive process improvement initiatives to increase departmental efficiency and client satisfaction.
- AAT Level 4 qualification (or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting, including double entry.
- Proven experience in service charge accounting or related property finance roles (residential and commercial).
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to challenge and analyse financial data.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting systems.
- Strong leadership and mentoring experience, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to liaise confidently with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong time management, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- A methodical and organised approach to work.
