It has a strong national role, training scientists and developing ideas for the public good.Crick Innovation and Business has been created to establish an expanded translational and commercial offering from the Crick.As a key enabler of this aim, the Industry Partnerships team is responsible for creating new opportunities to enhance early development of Crick discoveries and technologies through partnership with companies across the pharma, biotech and technology sectors.We are looking for an Industry Partnership Manager to join our team. In this role, you will work with representatives from industry partners across the pharmaceutical, life science and technology sectors to build meaningful, long-term partnerships that drive innovation and impact.You’ll be responsible for identifying and engaging potential industry collaborators, shaping and nurturing links with Crick researchers, and negotiating collaboration agreements to enable innovative and productive relationships. You will also oversee a portfolio of active partnerships, ensuring smooth coordination and relationship management across various stages of project development.As an Industry Partnership Manager, you will need to be creative in your approach with a strong scientific background and well-developed understanding of the Life Science sector.You will be a self-motivated and organised individual, with the ability to readily build relationships and matrix manage stakeholders across diverse scientific projects and stages of project development.What you will be doingAs Industry Partnership Manager at the Crick, you will:
  • Conduct horizon scanning for and outreach to develop new partnership opportunities closely aligning the needs of Crick scientists with industry partners
  • Negotiate collaboration and partnership agreements aligned with the Crick “Discovery Without Boundaries” strategy and the Crick’s translation and commercial activity
  • Support the development of applications for external public/ private funding
  • Lead on the development of partnership governance, including where appropriate development organisation Joint Steering Committees and Strategic Advisory Boards
  • Maintain management support and progress reporting through the partnership life-cycle
  • Work with the Crick Innovation and Business team to ensure opportunities for translational impact are maximised, including appropriate management of intellectual property
About youYou will have:
  • Undergraduate degree in bioscience or related discipline
  • Comprehensive experience developing and delivering partnerships between industry and academic partners in the life science sector, including experience in negotiation of collaboration and licencing agreements
  • Demonstrated ability to command the confidence of all those reliant on the effective delivery
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and explain concepts clearly
  • Strong liaison and negotiation skills with the ability to respond appropriately, confidently and sensitively in relation to academic and industry partners
  • Strong management skills
  • Quantitative skills, with the ability to support financial and commercial evaluations, including financial modelling and scenario development
