The successful candidate will join a large and diverse group of researchers covering nuclear structure physics, nuclear astrophysics, applications of nuclear physics and nuclear theory. The candidate's programme will focus on the overlap between between nuclear structure and nuclear astrophysics and their responsibilities will include
  • The analysis of experimental data acquired from both direct and indirect measurements
  • Dissemination of results at conferences and through publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • Participation in setting up and performing experiments at a number of international accelerator facilities
  • Participation in in-house detector testing and characterisation
About youWe are seeking a candidate with:
  • A PhD in experimental nuclear physics (or who is nearing completion of their PhD)
  • A proven track record of contributions in nuclear physics including the preparation of manuscripts for publication and conference contributions
In addition
  • Experience with data analysis using the ROOT analysis package would be an advantage
  • Experience performing and analysing experiments with gamma-ray and charged-particle spectroscopy would be an advantage. Particularly knowledge of Coulomb excitation and/ or gamma-ray spectroscopy of exotic nuclei
