The successful candidate as an SEMH TA will work closely with students who require additional guidance, fostering a safe and positive environment that encourages progress and personal growth.Responsibilities as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Deliver tailored support to students with SEMH needs in class and during small group activities.
- Assist teachers in creating engaging, accessible, and differentiated lessons.
- Encourage students to develop self-confidence, resilience, and positive behaviours.
- Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and wellbeing.
- Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or similar needs.
- Empathetic, patient, and adaptable approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
- An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
- A full, up-to-date CV with explanations for any gaps in employment in the last 10 years.
