Junior Accounts Assistant

£30,000 - £32,000My client is a mid-level Financial Services Broker based in the City, offering a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to start a career in accounts within the financial services sector.
We are seeking a strong second-jobber with approximately 12 months experience in a general accounts role. This position offers excellent long-term prospects, including training and development into broader accounting responsibilities.Duties
  • Purchase Ledger
  • Process supplier invoices accurately using accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage)
  • Reconcile supplier statements and assist in payment runs
  • Sales Ledger
  • Raise VAT-compliant sales invoices and credit notes
  • Allocate customer receipts and follow up on overdue accounts
  • Cash Allocation & Banking
  • Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Manage petty cash and process employee expense claims
  • Month-End Support
  • Assist with journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Help prepare VAT returns and support internal/external audits
  • General Finance Admin
  • Maintain accurate financial records
  • Respond to finance queries and support the wider finance team
The Candidate
  • Minimum 12 months in a finance or accounting role
  • Exposure to both purchase and sales ledger processes
  • Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, lookups)
  • Familiarity with accounting software
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Proactive, eager to learn, and able to work in a fastpaced environment
  • Discreet with confidential financial information
