Location: Islington, London | Full-Time | Competitive Salary | ASAP StartClarus Education is partnering with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Islington to recruit a dedicated Y4 Learning Support Assistant (LSA). This role is ideal for someone with strong SEND experience who enjoys working mainly in a whole class setting but is also comfortable providing targeted small group or 1:1 support to SEND pupils within the year group.Key Responsibilities
- Support the Year 4 teacher in delivering engaging lessons to the whole class, ensuring that all pupils can access the curriculum
- Provide targeted support through small group and 1:1 interventions for SEND pupils identified within the cohort
- Help manage classroom behaviour using positive strategies to create a calm and productive learning environment
- Assist in adapting learning resources and activities to meet the diverse needs of pupils
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and support staff to monitor pupil progress and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Foster independence, confidence, and social development in all pupils
- Proven experience supporting pupils with SEND in a primary school setting, ideally across mixed group teaching and 1:1 support
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to effectively liaise with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals
- Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude to work with children of varying needs and abilities
- Understanding of behaviour management strategies and inclusive teaching practices
- Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support are beneficial
- Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to undergo DBS checks)
