Job Description:Working as a member of the Horticulture team, this apprentice position is intended for someone motivated to pursue a career as a professional horticulturist and contribute to the maintenance and development of facilities managed by the Parks & Cemeteries Service. The post holder will undertake a four-year apprenticeship scheme, attending formal college and receiving workplace tuition.Please Note:
  • This Apprenticeship is for a 4 Year Fixed Term Contract, which may be made permanent, however there is no guarantee of this. Permanent placement will be dependent on the needs of the service at this time
  • Working hours are 36 hpw normally worked Monday to Thursday 8am to 4pm and Friday 8am to 2.30pm
  • Day Release to college will be accommodated
  • The postholder may be required to work outside normal hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Based initially in Bangor Walled Garden, however successful candidates will be required to move to an alternative location in accordance with training and operational requirements.
  • The postholder will be paid at Scale 2 and will only move to Scale 3 on completion of NVQ Level 3 in Horticulture. Current salary range is £25,185 to £26,403
  • Appointment will be subject to satisfactory completion of a medical questionnaire including a pre-employment Drugs and Alcohol Screening
  • A reserve list may be held for this post
