- Assessment and therapeutic input for older adults
- Working closely with the extensive MDT, collaborating to make effective care plans
- Bespoke training for wards according to need
- Development of groups
- Attending MDT ward rounds and other clinically focused meetings
- Working in a patient-centred way and making our services as accessible as possible to people from all backgrounds and with a range of physical and mental health needs
- Supporting students and therapy enablers
- Promoting the role of speech and language therapy within mental health across the Trust
- BSc or recognised post graduate MSc or diploma in speech and language therapy
- Registration with the Health Professions Council
- Postgraduate training in dysphagia - formal course or in-house
- Registration with RCSLT
- Experience of working as an SLT with dementia and adult acquired neurological disorders or adults with a learning disability or adults with severe and enduring mental health conditions
- Delivering training to other staff groups in dysphagia and / or communication
- Working as part of MDT
- Working with people with palliative care needs
- Supervision of students
- Developing training packages and resources
- Active membership of relevant Clinical Excellence Networks or other SLT groups
- Contribution to service development
- Knowledge of associated eating/swallowing & communication difficulties presented by people with dementia
- Ability to undertake complex assessment and use to create and adapt person-centred care plans
- Good presentation and teaching skills, adapted according to the audience
- Knowledge of associated eating/swallowing & communication difficulties presented by people with mental health difficulties
