  • Assisting the surgical team by preparing instruments and maintaining sterility.
  • Supporting the Anaesthetist with equipment preparation and patient monitoring.
  • Providing post-operative care, including monitoring vital signs and managing pain.
  • Adhering to infection prevention and control policies.
  • Setting up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient needs.
  • Checking and reporting any faults in surgical and anaesthetic equipment.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team for safe surgical lists.

The ideal Theatre Practitioner will have:
  • Registration as a Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
  • Experience or training in a theatre environment, specialising in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
  • A strong understanding of infection control and patient safety principles.
  • The ability to work under pressure and problem-solve effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Previous orthopaedic experience is essential.
