- Manage and prioritise your own caseload effectively, by utilising a high level of clinical reasoning, organisational and prioritisation skills, with support from the Team Lead OT.
- Carry out comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments, including complex standardised assessments and risk assessments.
- Plan and carry out individual Occupational Therapy treatment programmes which reflect the patient's needs and goals.
- Evaluate treatment and use reflective practice to improve patient care.
- Demonstrate sound clinical reasoning skills and apply these when considering the use of equipment and adaptations to maximise independence
- Be flexible to fluctuating priorities and enjoy working in a fast paced environment.
- To demonstrate effective and efficient discharge planning skills.
- Apply excellent communication skills with patients, carers and MDT colleagues, including attending daily board rounds, MDT and other meetings.
- Teach, supervise and appraise junior staff and students, whilst being supported by highly skilled and experiences senior staff.
- To have an active role in developing the Orthopaedic service including quality improvement and service development.
- The Band 6 Occupational therapist will undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and work in accordance with the standards, policies, and procedures established within the trust.
- To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based/patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate occupational therapy interventions.
- To provide an advanced standard of therapy assessment and treatment of a specialist caseload within the area of Elective Orthopaedics and Trauma and Orthopaedics to patients, carers and families without direct supervision. Access to advice and support from team leads is available when required.
- Effectively communicate with other professionals, such as doctors, physiotherapists, social workers, equipment suppliers as well as patients' families, carers and employers.
- To supervise, teach and appraise Band 5 therapists and support workers.
- To supervise occupational therapy students on practice placements.
- To take an active role in and contribute to service improvement projects that will enhance the service.

- Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.

- UK driving license.
- Fieldwork Education Certificate.
- Post registration experience relevant to clinical area including work in an acute health setting and discharge planning.
- Evidence of CPD in relevant areas of practice.
- Experience in supervising/teaching staff/student/volunteer.
- Relevant other associated work experience.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
